Stansted and East Midlands airports to get new controls
LUX Mar-14 Stansted and East Midlands Airports will soon be treated to new lighting schemes and control systems. The new systems will be modelled on the one recently installed at Manchester Airport, which links lights to the the airport's flight monitoring system, allowing lights to be turned on in certain areas when passengers are due to arrive. All three airports are owned by Manchester Airports Group. Speaking at the Smart Lighting Conference in London in February, Andy Sheridan, services facility manager of Manchester Airport, and Jon Beswick, technical engineer at Manchester Airport Group, revealed that the group is ‘hoping to deliver the same, energy-efficient LED scheme to Stansted Airport’ which has given Manchester Airport savings of 80-90 per cent.
